About Our Camera
Our camera is a small waterproof bullet cam. It measures less than 4" x 1",(100mm x 25mm). It has a 4.3mm lens giving a 78 degree angle of view. It is positioned on the roof of the house looking north west.
The camera is connected to the computer through a Belkin USB video adapter and the images are managed and uploaded using ImageSalsa software.
The timelapse movie is generated using MovieSalsa software. It takes the images saved by ImageSalsa (1 image every minute in the summer. 1 image every 30 seconds in the winter) and puts them altogether at a rate of 20 frames per second. So, every second of movie represents 20 minutes of real time in the summer and 10 minutes of real time in the winter. The movie will always run from 1 hour before sunrise to 1 hour after sunset.
If you are using Windows Media Player 11 you can change the speed at which the movie is viewed. Open the player, click "Now Playing", scroll down to "Enhancements" Put a check mark next to "Show enhancements". In the enhancement window (now open at the bottom of the player, use the arrows in the top left of the window to select "Play Speed Settings". From here you can use the slider to alter the speed of the movie from half its orginal speed to double its orginal speed. This can be useful on very windy days when the clouds skip by really quickly. Have fun.
